Cisco ASA series part one: Intro to the Cisco ASA. We’ve spent a bunch of time investigating Cisco ASA devices and their firmware while looking into exploiting CVE-2016-1287, CVE-2016-6366, and other bugs. Part of this research has involved data mining numerous Cisco ASA firmware files to generate new exploit targets. Restoring a full back-up configuration on the ASA using the REST API will reload the ASA. This is a limitation which will be addressed in a future release. As an alternative, follow these steps to restore a full back-up: 1. Open the ASA REST API Documentation & Console page. 2. Use the POST command on the CLI tab with the following payload: The Future of Firewall Policies Examples of this style are the Cisco ASA, Cisco Router Access-Lists, Juniper SRX/SSG, Check Point, Fortinet, IPtables/IP6tables, The Cisco ASA 5500 series is Cisco’s follow up of the Cisco PIX 500 series firewall. However, the ASA is not just a pure hardware firewall. In brief, the Cisco ASA is a security device that combines firewall, antivirus, intrusion prevention, and virtual private network (VPN) capabilities. It provides proactive threat defense

A firewall upgrade provides the opportunity to future-proof your security architecture and achieve greater flexibility. Upgrading Your Firewall is Only Half the Battle

A recent Cisco study indicates that the scope of digital technology change may be broader than you think. The study predicts that machine-to-machine connections that support Internet of Things (IoT) applications are estimated to be more than half of the total 27.1 billion connected devices. The Cisco ASA Family of security devices protects corporate networks and data centers of all sizes. It provides users with highly secure access to data and network resources - anytime, anywhere, using any device. In the future Cisco and many other vendors will completely get remove stateful only Firewall devices. Cisco is going to replace all ASA with the new appliances capable of running a united operating system – the Firepower Threat Defense. The switch to this is inevitable, so there are no benefits whatsoever for waiting. We’ve made migration easy with the new Firepower Migration Tool. It automatically converts the configuration of a supported ASA platform to a supported Cisco NGFW running our Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) platform. Visit our website, download and launch the tool,

Cisco ASA provides a robust VPN setup process and integrates with other Cisco security offerings, including Cloud Web security and Trustsec. CWS provides cloud-based systems security across public and private clouds, and Trustsec is a software-defined segmentation product that mitigates the scope of network threats and data breaches.
