Unfortunately this is NOT the rate you usually get, but you can maximize the rate you do. Our interbank rate is determined by us having reference to live exchange rates from our banking partners and market data sources and then calculating a blended rate from those sources. The blended rate may involve calculating the weighted average of one or more exchange rates available to us. The foreign exchange interbank rate is the official rate banks use when trading currencies with each other. Bank foreign exchange rates made available to clients is not the interbank rate. It contains a built-in spread. Banks’ fx rates for bank to bank transfers can be 2.5% worse than the interbank fx rate using high-street banks. The interbank market is where the really big money changes hands. Minimum trade sizes are one million of the base currency, such as €1 million of EUR/USD or $1 million of USD/JPY. Much larger trades of between $10 million and $100 million are routine and can go through the market in a matter of seconds.
